There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
On Wednesday, 17th September 2025, Blandford Public School was buzzing with excitement as Krystal from the PowerFM Breakfast Show broadcasted live from our grounds between 7:00am and 9:00am. Her visit kicked off a morning of celebration in proud support of Ride for the Chopper—a seven-day mountain biking challenge raising essential funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
At 9:00am, we warmly welcomed the inspiring team of riders, who pedalled from Mudgee to Tamworth to champion this life-saving cause. Their grit and generosity were met with cheers and heartfelt appreciation from our school community.
A huge thank you to PowerFM and the Ride for the Chopper crew for shining a spotlight on this vital service and bringing such positive energy to our school.
During Term 3, students have been actively participating in a structured gymnastics program with Nicky Western as part of their PDHPE curriculum. Through guided sessions, they’ve been developing flexibility, coordination, balance, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment. The program encourages physical wellbeing and skill-building while allowing students to challenge themselves and celebrate their progress. Remarkably, within just three sessions, noticeable growth in student abilities has already been observed, highlighting the program’s effectiveness and the students’ enthusiasm for learning.
On Tuesday, 26th August 2025, our students participated in a structured CrossFit program with Chris Comerford. This session was designed to promote fitness, teamwork, and resilience. Through engaging workouts tailored to their age and ability, students are building strength, improving coordination, and developing health habits in a supportive environment.
The Premier's Spelling Bee is an engaging way for NSW public primary school students to expand their vocabularies and improve their spelling. The spelling bee is designed for Stage 2 and 3. The program includes activities that encourage students to become more confident users of language through broadening their vocabulary and promotes improved literacy skills in conjunction with the NSW English K to 10 syllabus. Thank you to Martindale Public School for organising a spelling bee for small schools in our area and for allowing Year 2 students to participate. Some of the words being spilt during our spelling bee include melodrama, onslaught, novelty, multitude, equitable, censorship, possum, collision. And horrendous. Congratulations to the Blandford students who participated in this year’s spelling bee. Carter and Callum competed in the Stage 2 section of the spelling bee and represented our school well. Carter made it to the fourth round, he correctly spelt the words match, phrase, sludge. Unfortunately he missed spelt his final word, repetition. Callum also made it to the fourth round, correctly spelling thought, discard and bypass, before stumbling on the final word, miniature. A Stage 3 student made it to round 3 in the Stage 3 section, She correctly spelt pixels., and multitude, her final word was influencer.
On Friday the 13th of June our school travelled to the Newcastle Entertainment Centre to watch Star Struck. Star Struck is a performance by Kindergarten to Year 12 students from public schools within the Newcastle, Central Coast and Hunter regions. Star Struck was so good to watch, and I also think it would be fantastic to perform in it. Star Struck was a fantastic experience and all the students at Blandford said they are interested in being performers in next year’s Starstruck. Most of our students thought being in the Star Struck choir would be fun. Written by Ava.
On Tuesday 10 June, Millie and Claudia from NRL ran an engaging, fun filled and highly active development session for Blandford students. The visitors did a fantastic job, keeping our students moving and thinking for a whole hour! It was a delight to see the smiles on faces and hear the laughter and encouragement echoing from our students
